Malaysia is set to host the inaugural Asean AI Malaysia Summit 2025, positioning the country as the epicenter for digital innovation and aspirations within Southeast Asia.
The event, coinciding with Malaysia’s chairmanship of Asean this year, will be held on Aug 12-13 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur. It is expected to be a defining moment for the region, uniting leading minds to chart a future powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

Organised by the Digital Ministry with support from the National AI Office, the summit will bring together over 1,500 delegates, including ministers, industry leaders, academics, and emerging youth voices. The gathering reflects Malaysia’s commitment to its Madani philosophy, which champions empathy, sustainability, and justice, ensuring AI innovation serves communities and uplifts citizens.

The theme of the summit is ‘Driving Sustainable and Inclusive AI Development in Asean’.

As AI reshapes economies and societies globally, Malaysia is stepping forward to lead in Southeast Asia. The summit will serve as a high-level platform for nations to harmonise strategies, align data governance standards, and unlock cross-border innovation. Discussions will cover AI sovereignty, regulatory alignment, and talent development to ensure the region is ready for future challenges and opportunities.

The programme is built around five strategic pillars:

Empowering the rakyat
Unlocking business innovation
Elevating youth as AI leaders
Strengthening the regional AI ecosystem
Driving policy readiness

Highlights include the Malaysia AI Superbooth, the Asean AI Trade Show, and high-level Ministerial Roundtables. The event will also host a Youth AI Caucus and an AI Code Fest to ensure young voices and fresh ideas are heard.

Global industry leaders and changemakers will deliver keynote presentations, offering insights into the future of technology and its potential to transform lives.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the summit is a chance to ensure AI’s future reflects Asean’s shared values of dignity, equity, and community.

“By working together, governments, industry, youth, and civil society can innovate responsibly, build trust, and make AI a force for good across the region,” Gobind said.

“Malaysia invites all stakeholders – industries, students, entrepreneurs, and civil society – to join the Asean AI Malaysia Summit 2025 and help shape an AI future that is sustainable, inclusive, and rooted in shared values,” he added.
