Prime Ministers Anwar Ibrahim and Narendra Modi commit to enhancing Malaysia-India cooperation in trade, economy, education and technology.

JOHANNESBURG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and India.

The leaders met during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg where they exchanged views on expanding cooperation.

Anwar stated their meeting confirmed dedication to enhancing ties in economy, trade, education and new technologies.

“Our meeting reaffirmed our commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, education, and new technologies,” he said during a press conference.

He added that both nations will collaborate to diversify strategic cooperation benefiting their citizens.

“Therefore, with the spirit of mutual trust and respect, we can enhance the potential of this region as a new growth hub,” Anwar noted.

Modi echoed similar sentiments through his social media platform.

“Had a great exchange of views with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. India and Malaysia will continue to work together to diversify bilateral cooperation,” he posted on Facebook.

The leaders emphasized ensuring their relationship remains strong and resilient through mutual trust.

Both countries aim to broaden the scope of cooperation between the two friendly nations.

The commitment focuses on areas with potential to expand collaboration beyond existing frameworks.
