Foreign ministers Mohamad Hasan and Vivian Balakrishnan will review bilateral ties and prepare for December’s Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat

KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will hold a bilateral meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on Tuesday.

The meeting precedes the 12th Malaysia-Singapore Annual Leaders’ Retreat scheduled for December.

Both ministers are expected to review progress in bilateral relations and cooperation.

They will also exchange views on issues of mutual interest and discuss retreat preparations.

“As close neighbours and key ASEAN partners, Malaysia and Singapore continue to enjoy strong collaboration across various sectors,” the Malaysian Foreign Ministry stated.

This year marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Malaysia and Singapore remain each other’s second-largest trading partners.

Bilateral trade reached US$61.40 billion (RM266.50 billion) from January to August 2025.

This accounts for 8.5% of Malaysia’s total trade during that period. – Bernama
