Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that Malaysia and Uzbekistan have the potential to forge special strategic partnerships in various new domains, particularly those related to Muslim interests. Speaking at the high-level Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Forum at the Silk Road Samarkand Complex, Anwar highlighted the unique opportunities for collaboration between the two Muslim-majority nations.

Anwar noted that the partnership could extend beyond traditional areas of cooperation, encompassing hospitality, halal development, halal certification, and the halal industry. He suggested that the two countries could also explore collaborations in culture and art, coordinated at a high level by senior ministers from both nations.

Approximately 200 companies from Malaysia and Uzbekistan participated in the business forum, which saw the presence of Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev. The event underscored the strong interest from both countries in enhancing bilateral business relations.

Furthermore, Anwar pointed out the potential for cooperation in the fields of education and digital technology, with a particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI). He stressed that the future capabilities of both nations depend on their ability to build strengths together and complement each other’s efforts in these advanced sectors.

"Our future capabilities depend on how we build our strength together. We should always think we can complement each other," Anwar stated, highlighting the mutual benefits of a robust partnership.

Anwar is currently on a three-day official visit to Uzbekistan, which began with his arrival in Tashkent on Friday. His delegation includes Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

This visit aims to strengthen the diplomatic and economic ties between Malaysia and Uzbekistan, opening new avenues for cooperation in various sectors. The inclusion of high-level ministers in Anwar's delegation underscores the importance Malaysia places on this relationship.

The focus on AI and digital technology marks a significant step forward, as both countries recognize the transformative potential of these fields. By working together, Malaysia and Uzbekistan can harness technological advancements to drive innovation and economic growth.

In conclusion, the burgeoning partnership between Malaysia and Uzbekistan holds great promise for both nations. By leveraging their shared interests and strengths, they can create a powerful alliance that benefits their respective populations and contributes to the broader Muslim community. Anwar's visit is a pivotal moment in cementing this strategic relationship, setting the stage for future collaborations in diverse areas.
