Government advances STR Phase 2 payments to March 10, benefiting over five million households before Aidilfitri

PUTRAJAYA: The government has brought forward the payment of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2 to March 10, involving RM1.3 billion for more than five million recipient households, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Anwar said the decision was made to ensure recipients receive the assistance earlier ahead of Ramadan and Aidilfitri.

Payments will begin on March 10 and will be disbursed in stages nationwide.

“STR Phase 2 was supposed to be paid in April, but we brought it forward because we want to welcome the month of Ramadan and Aidilfitri.

“So we brought it forward to March 10, 2026. The first stage, beginning March 10, will involve RM1.3 billion for five million STR recipients so that it can be received ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.”

He announced the measure during his address at the monthly assembly of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) today.

The Prime Minister said the accelerated payout is part of the government’s effort to ease the financial pressures faced by households during the festive period.
