Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah has appointed former Women Entrepreneurs Committee Chairperson Lam Lee Chin as its new Secretary-General, replacing Ivan Chai who stepped down for personal reasons.
MCCC Sabah President Datuk Dexter Lau said Lam, who operates the Ruby Inn Hotel, is a respected entrepreneur with strong management skills and long-standing involvement in Chamber activities.
He said her experience in finance, business management, and organisational work made her the right choice to strengthen the Chamber’s Secretariat.
“Lam Lee Chin is efficient, detail-oriented, and action-driven. Her presence in the Secretariat will improve administrative coordination and enhance the Chamber’s overall operations,” he said, adding that the council is confident she will lead MCCC Sabah toward a more professional and international direction.
Lau also thanked former Secretary-General Chai for his contributions, noting that he played a key role in ensuring organisational stability and supporting Chamber initiatives.
Lam’s promotion leaves the position of Women Entrepreneurs Committee Chairperson vacant. The committee will nominate a new chairperson within a week.
If no suitable candidate is identified, the MCCC Sabah Council Members will make the appointment to ensure continuity and leadership stability. The new appointment will be announced once confirmed.
Lau said the leadership change reflects the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening governance and improving structural efficiency as it continues promoting economic and trade cooperation, investment, and resource integration between Sabah and China.
He said MCCC Sabah remains focused on its mission of serving members, connecting resources, and supporting Sabah’s economic development.
