Barcelona, April 25, 2023 - The coaching staff of the Malaysian Football Association, led by national coach Kim Pan-gon, visited RCD Espanyol de Barcelona on Thursday to get a first-hand look and insight into the methodology of the iconic LaLiga club.
The Malaysian coaching staff attended a methodology training session of more than two hours given by staff from the Catalan club. They were also able to take a private tour of the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque facilities, where all RCD Espanyol de Barcelona teams train, attended the training sessions of the youth teams accompanied by the Spanish club's methodology manager, and had a meeting with the coach of the U-17 youth team and former Perico player Javi Chica.
The Malaysia coach was accompanied at all times by his staff: assistant coach, goalkeeping coach, fitness trainer and performance analyst. This delegation was also able to attend the LaLiga Santander match between RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and Cadiz CF (0-0), which took place at the RCDE Stadium on Friday, rounding off their immersion in the Perico club and Spanish football.
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona is one of LaLiga's flagship clubs. Founded in 1900, it was one of the founding members of the Spanish league (1928-29), and holds the fifth highest number of matches played in the history of LaLiga Santander to date. Its experience in Spanish professional football, as well as a successful track record in grassroots football, make the Blanquiazul a perfect host for these educational visits.
Jordi Amat, now playing for Johor Darul Takzim F.C. in the Malaysian Super League, is just one of many internationally renowned players who have been trained in the RCD Espanyol de Barcelona Academy and first team.
