
NEWLY appointed chairman of corporate affairs advisory for the global World Trade Centers Association (WCTA) Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim has pledged to deepen Malaysia’s global connectivity while accelerating growth in the business events sector.
In a statement, Irmohizam, who is also World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) group managing director, said his immediate priority is to revitalise the exhibitions and conventions ecosystem at the WTCKL, positioning the country as a competitive destination for regional and international business gatherings.
“Strategic cooperation with Nova Marine Carriers, which is based in Lugano, Switzerland, will serve as a catalyst for stronger regional networks. This synergy opens up new opportunities for industry growth and cross-border collaboration,” he said.
He emphasised that such cooperation would strengthen regional connectivity and unlock fresh avenues for expansion within the industry.
Alongside industry development, Irmohizam highlighted the importance of academic engagement and lifelong learning as key pillars in building sustainable leadership within the sector.
“With the combination of industry experience and knowledge, these efforts are expected to drive the growth of the Business Events industry in Malaysia and ASEAN to a higher level,” he said.
He expressed confidence that integrating professional expertise with continuous learning would drive the business events industry in Malaysia and across ASEAN to greater heights, reinforcing the nation’s ambitions to become a leading hub for global conferences and exhibitions. - March 25, 2026
