KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Malaysia is exploring cooperation with Embraer Defense & Security of Brazil to join the company’s regional and global supply chain.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the matter was discussed during a courtesy call by the company’s chief commercial officer, Frederico Lemos, at Wisma Pertahanan yesterday.

He said Embraer has expertise in aircraft development and integrated defence solutions.

“This meeting paves the way to explore collaboration in developing the local downstream ecosystem and opportunities for Malaysia to participate in Embraer’s supply chain at regional and global levels.

“This potential aligns with the aspirations of the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN) to strengthen the capabilities of the local defence industry,” he said in a Facebook post. — Bernama
