The construction of a new concrete wall along the Malaysia–Thailand border, particularly in high-risk areas, will be expedited to strengthen border control and safeguard national security. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the initiative included building the wall along vulnerable stretches such as from Chuping to Padang Besar in Perlis.

She said the plan aims to replace the ageing barbed-wire fencing, which has become easily breached. “Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), the government has approved an allocation of RM327 million to implement new development projects and upgrade existing walls and security fences along the Malaysia–Thailand border.
