Malaysia had a Co-Prime Minister during Najib's era, her name is Rosmah.

There were rumours that Rosmah, Najib's wife was interfering in affairs of the state when Najib was Prime Minister. But it was never confirmed until a recent case where Judge Zaini Mazlan alluded to this fact in his decision to convict Rosmah.
Judge Zaini Mazlan in his judgement on RM1.25 billion Sarawak rural schools’ solar energy project "alluded to Rosmah Mansor as being the co-Prime Minister" to Najib Razak, her husband. (Liew Chin Tong).
The judge pointed out that she asserted tremendous influence over Najib, then Prime Minister into making decisions that brought about an unrivalled amount of corruption in a case that involved billions.

Judge Zaini Mazlan in convicting Rosmah to 10 years jail and a fine of almost a billion ringgit said, “I say this with the greatest of respect, but it is apparent that the accused (Rosmah) dominates Najib. She has control over him. She had no business interfering in Najib's duties or the government’s affairs, but she did.” (Paragraph [237])
Liew Chin Tong's exposè "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗵 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗵 𝗰𝗼-𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽" now circulating on social media goes to great lengths in discussing the judgement of Rosmah's heinous crime of demanding to be paid off commissions by contractors because of her ability to influence Najib to make decisions in her favour or that of her associates to obtain a government project without having to go through any tender process.
Najib used everything within his power to overrule anyone who tried to stop the progress of the project in the nation's interest. He kept repeating "bersetuju" in all instances when there were serious doubts raised by civil servants or relevant ministries over the project. “𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘫𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘶 𝘪𝘯𝘪 𝘥𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢” (Agree to execute this new system and terminate the previous system).
Or 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘶” (Please execute according to my previous minute). Or even directing immediate execution "𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘫𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘙𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘛𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘰𝘴. 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘬𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘢” (Agree to approve Direct Negotiations to save costs. Please arrange immediately).
All attempts by "civil servants who wanted to safeguard the government's and nation’s interest were futile and disregarded by the Najib and Rosmah."
This made Liew ask a pertinent question in his essay 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗯 𝘀𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁?
Liew answered by saying, 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰: “𝘼𝙠𝙪 𝙙𝙖𝙝 𝙘𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙥 𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙞 𝙖𝙠𝙪 𝙙𝙖𝙝” (𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱). It sounded like she had the upper hand. "I told my husband..." to act on it, perhaps.
In fact from what was revealed in court that "every time there was a setback for the contractors of the solar project, Rosmah would come to their rescue by instructing her husband to enforce their will."
As a result, Judge Zaini Mazlan commented in his judgement, “it is indeed amazing that a contract worth RM 1.25 billion could simply be awarded by penning minutes without going through the expected procedures that will serve to check and balance.” (Paragraph [235])
So, what did Rosmah stand to gain from pursuing the contract with such relentlessness as Najib did in pushing the civil servants to act upon her bidding?
The contractor of the project, Jepak Holdings offered to pay Rosmah 10 per cent of the RM 1.25 billion contract value as commission.
But Rosmah being greedy wanted more and asked for 17 per cent but eventually settled at 15 per cent, or RM 187.5 million. That's her commission for just telling Najib to approve the project.
That's just one project where Rosmah was making her decision behind the scenes.
If we dug deeper we'll probably find more cases of interference by the Co-Prime Minister in the day to day decision making by the PM cum Finance Minister of the country.
The moral of the story is that people in power should not be influenced by others around them be it their spouses or partners. What more to having a wife as a Co-Prime Minister who tends to make decisions for her own benefit?
Thus a parody that's making the rounds where Najib was supposedly reminded by his mother: Emak dah pesan...kau jangan mencuri, jangan boros, jangan takut bini...kau tak dengar. Sekarang siapa susah?" (Mummy told...you don't steal, don't be extravagant, don't be scared of the wife...you don't listen. Now who's in trouble?)
