Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan discuss boosting economic cooperation, trade, and investment between Malaysia and the Indian state.
KERALAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Keralam Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan today discussed efforts to strengthen economic cooperation and facilitate greater trade and investment between Malaysia and India’s southern state, Keralam, formerly known as Kerala.
The discussion took place during Satheesan’s courtesy call on Anwar in Calicut here, held in conjunction with the Prime Minister’s working visit to India and his maiden visit to Keralam as Prime Minister.
Among the key areas discussed were greater collaboration in the digital economy, healthcare, tourism, education and other high-value sectors.
They also explored opportunities to expand tourism, business and people-to-people exchanges, further strengthening ties between Malaysia and Keralam.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also invited Satheesan to visit Malaysia as part of efforts to further enhance bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
The meeting formed part of Anwar’s programme during his working visit to India, which also includes engagements with Keralam’s business community and other key stakeholders.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, is being accompanied on the working visit by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
After attending the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, Anwar arrived in Calicut on Sunday for the second and final leg of his working visit to India.
The Prime Minister arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
