KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Roger Chin urged Malaysia to honour its constitutional commitments to Sabah, saying he believes in “a Malaysia that keeps its word.”Speaking at the Justice for Sabah assembly at Padang Merdeka on Friday, Chin said the dispute over Sabah’s 40pc entitlement began after it was stated in Parliament that the provision was no longer applicable.
“Rights do not disappear. They are either honoured or ignored. From 1974 to 2021 no lawful review took place. No proper compliance. No accountability.”“You can see it. You can feel it. You live it. Look at our roads. Look at our schools. Look at our hospitals,” the nominated assemblyman told the crowd.
On the legal process, he said Federal had challenged Sabah’s right even to bring the case by appealing.
“The Court said clearly: There was a breach. A constitutional breach.
“Not a misunderstanding. Not a delay. A breach of duty.
A constitution is not just a document. It is a promise.”“We believe in a Malaysia that keeps its word,” he said.
