Malaysia Reduce Concert Deposit to Support Tourism, Visit Malaysia 2026

KUALA LUMPUR - Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will reduce security deposit rates for concerts and cultural events to support efforts linked to Visit Malaysia 2026, which has been extended to 2027.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the new rates will take effect on May 1.

She said deposits for local artists performing in stage or cultural shows will be reduced from RM10,000 to RM4,000, while concert deposits will be set at RM10,000.

“For foreign artists, the deposit for stage and cultural performances is reduced fromRM30,000 to RM8,000, and concerts from RM30,000 to RM15,000,” she said at the Arts, Live Festivals and Events Association (ALIFE) Malaysia event on April 21.

She said the move follows the government’s push for all ministries to work together to support national plans led by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We will attract more event organisers to organise programmes, concerts and activities in Kuala Lumpur,” Hannah said.

Economic Affairs Minister, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign will be extended to 2027 to allow the tourism sector more time to recover.

He said the target is 47 million foreign tourists and RM329 billion in tourism revenue.
