Malaysia’s First Chinese Lieutenant General, Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng, to Retire Next Year

Lieutenant General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng, who made history as the first Malaysian-Chinese officer to be awarded the rank of Lieutenant General in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), will be retiring next year.

Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, took to his Facebook page to share this development after he received a courtesy call from the Commandant of the National Resilience College (NRC) in regards to Lieutenant General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng’s retirement.

He wrote, “Lieutenant General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng made history last June as the first Chinese officer to hold the rank of Lieutenant General in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM). On behalf of the Government and the Ministry of Defence, I express my appreciation to him for his service and all of his contributions to the country and military service.”

“I hope he can continue to contribute to the country in his own capacity. Thank you Commander and have a safe retirement.”

 

The reason for Lieutenant General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng’s retirement was not specified.
