Agriculture Minister Mohamad Sabu calls for collective action from all sectors to ensure stable and sufficient food supplies amid global challenges.

KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts to ensure the nation’s food security are a shared responsibility that extends beyond the government alone, according to Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

He stated that the ministry continuously monitors all developments to ensure the country is prepared in advance and that the national food supply remains stable, sufficient, and accessible.

“We all have a role to play, as those with the space and means can start growing crops, while businesses should manage supplies prudently and consumers must avoid panic buying,” he said in a Facebook post.

Mohamad expressed confidence that with continued effort and cooperation from all parties, the nation can strengthen its food supply management and face challenges calmly.

The minister’s remarks followed a briefing he received earlier today on the latest status of the country’s food supply.

He highlighted that current global uncertainties, particularly the conflict in West Asia and global climate change, are directly impacting the food supply chain and the productivity of Malaysia’s agricultural sector.
