Malaysia’s humanitarian flotilla carries 300 tonnes of aid to Gaza, aiming to benefit 100,000 Palestinians and break long-standing aid blockades

SEPANG: Malaysia’s major humanitarian aid mission to Gaza will deliver 30 containers of critical supplies expected to directly benefit about 100,000 Palestinians.

Selangor Menteri Besar and mission chief Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the mission involves over 300 tonnes of essential goods packed into the containers.

The supplies were contributed by the public, companies, and state and federal governments.

“We estimate that about 100,000 people will benefit if we succeed in carrying out this mission,” he said at a press conference after launching the mission.

He added it would certainly open doors wider for further aid that has previously been constrained.

Amirudin stressed the mission is a large-scale humanitarian movement aimed at delivering direct assistance, not merely a symbolic gesture.

The participation of nearly 3,000 volunteers from almost 100 countries reflects global solidarity with the prolonged crisis in Gaza.

Two key components are being planned for the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 delegation.

These are the immediate delivery of emergency aid via land routes and the launch of the flotilla from Barcelona.

The efforts are part of continued work to break humanitarian blockades.

Amirudin noted the federal government is playing an important role through government-to-government cooperation.

This involves several countries, including European nations willing to facilitate the mission’s safe and effective execution.

The Malaysian delegation will move according to a carefully planned strategic schedule to ensure safety.

Organisers have prepared several operational plans, taking into account current security conditions.

“The most important thing for us is to ensure all delegates arrive before the departure, especially as we approach the Rafah crossing in the next few days,” he said.

The number of Malaysian participants is expected to be higher than last year’s mission.

“Last year we had 34 Malaysian participants. This time, we have received a large number of applications,” Amirudin said.

The total will be announced when the delegation begins departure from Barcelona.

He also called on the public to continue praying for the mission’s success to ensure aid reaches those in urgent need.

“May there be continued prayers and support for our heroes who are carrying a message of peace,” he said.
