The future of work in Malaysia is shaped by rapid advancements in AI, digitalization, the green economy, and a critical need to bridge national skills mismatch. From AI adoption and automation to cybersecurity and digital skills, the future belongs to professionals who adapt, upskill & embrace smarter ways of working. According to TalentCorp research, approximately 18% of the workforce (620,000 employees) across 10 strategic sectors will face significant transformation due to AI, green energy & technology adoption over the next 2 to 5 years. While routine tasks face automation, generative AI is expected to act as a co-worker to boost productivity rather than completely replacing the human roles. This initiative is aimed to upskill millions of workers to prevent obsolescence,

I am delighted to read the interesting feedback from reader to my story “Human Resource (HR): A profession to be proud of who act as true business partner & help organizations succeed and grow” published by newswav.com dated Saturday, 24 October 2026. AIM & HBS Alumnus Zakaria Mohd Nor (Pak Zak) stated “The future of HR centers on its evolution from an administrative support function into a strategic business architect and ‘steward’ of humanity in a highly automated workplace. Its shifting its focus from managing processes to designing organizational capability. The key trends driving the future of HR, strategic contribution to the organization, new competences HE leaders must adopt, must be thoroughly orchestrated to map out organizational skill gaps to prevent transformation bottlenecks, human-machine collaboration, hyper-personalized employee experience, overcome the fractured ecosystem of work. Move away from the ‘business as usual’ approach.”

A thought provoking feedback from AIM Alumnus Dato Bijayo Adi Satria Ahmad articulated “Reshaping workplace ecosystem is indeed a key agenda in today's age of intelligence. Productivity goes back to the basics of human intelligence & creativity while AI only assists in cutting down time, accessing data & information, in order to ensure each employee delivers the highest standards of performance for the organization. With AI there must always be a recognition of whether the information is based on real world scenario or an artificial hypotheses. That is the HR challenge.”
