It is heartening to learn from Datuk Sikh Shamsul Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), who said in an interview with Bernama that “The country is well positioned to serve as a competitive ASEAN aerospace base, driven by its strength in engineering, maintenance services & system integration. At MIDA, our strategy hinges on high-quality investments, fostering local global partnerships and advancing key enablers such as industrial digitalisation & sustainability.” (asean.bernama.com)
Datuk Sikh added, “To date, Malaysia's aerospace sector has secured RM26 billion in approved investments, with more than 18,000 jobs generated, affirming the nation's growing significance in regional aerospace value chain. In 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, the sector attracted RM1.5 billion approved investments, of which 71.3 per cent was foreign sources, with the reminder by local capital.” (https://www.mida.gov.my)
It is most timely that Persatuan Aeroangkasa Myaerosatu received the Registration Certificate on 14 February, 2025 from Registrar of Societies, Malaysia, followed by conducting the First AGM by the founding members to select its working committee led by Prof Dr. Haji Zulkifly Baharom, as the Chairman. Since then Myaerosatu Committee has been actively reaching out authorities & leaders of aerospace industry locally & abroad to map out its strategies. Treasurer Najmi revealed that “We're now launching effective membership drive which include leveraging referral programs, hosting events like professional networking events, luncheon talks by industry leaders that can significantly boost our membership campaign.”
Exco Haji Dzainie who's responsible for government & industry linkages said, “Myaerosatu can assist the government and industry in accelerating our ambition to build sovereign capabilities in the aerospace manufacturing & maintenance, airports, MRO & sustainable technologies. This requires stronger integration between SMEs & OEMs, not just as contract manufacturers but as trusted partners.
