MALAYSIA has officially launched its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai with the commencement of the Investment, Trade and Industry Week — a strategic platform aimed at promoting the country’s economic dynamism, sectoral strengths, and global partnership potential.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the two-week programme is designed to spotlight Malaysia as a hub for sustainable growth, innovation, and inclusive development. Central themes include green technology, resilient economic strategies, the halal industry, healthcare, Islamic finance, and food technology.
Throughout the event, 30 Malaysian companies are scheduled to engage in over 150 business matching sessions with international counterparts, paving the way for future collaborations, trade deals, and investment prospects.
The week will also feature the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), in addition to seminars, product showcases, business pitching sessions, and pocket talks.
“Our objectives at this Expo are multifaceted and clear — to showcase Malaysia as a dynamic and forward-thinking nation, a hub and premier destination for trade and investment, as well as a leader in sustainable development,” said Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob, Secretary General of MITI and Commissioner General of Malaysia for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
“Our KPI is to secure RM13 billion of potential investments and exports. As such, we are keen to showcase our strengths in pivotal sectors such as E&E (electrical and electronics), advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, and the halal industry, and how these can serve and complement potential partners’ strategic socio-economic goals and missions,” he added during his opening address.
The Malaysia Pavilion at the Expo is themed *“Weaving a Future in Harmony”*, reflecting the country’s vision for an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future.
It offers global audiences an immersive experience of Malaysia’s socio-economic values, diversity, and forward-looking industries, while encouraging meaningful collaboration in the face of shared global challenges.
Earlier in the day, Hairil also represented Malaysia in his capacity as Chair of ASEAN 2025 during the launch of the ASEAN Pavilion. In delivering the ASEAN Congratulatory Remarks, he reiterated Malaysia’s strong commitment to advancing the bloc’s economic integration and strengthening regional cooperation.
