Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof says the government will rely on data, not rushed measures, to guide any fuel subsidy policy decisions amid global tensions.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will not make abrupt changes to fuel subsidy policies despite geopolitical pressures.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof gave this assurance, stating any policy decisions will be guided by comprehensive data analysis.

He acknowledged that tensions in West Asia could persist for one to two years. However, he said any government action would prioritise protecting the majority of Malaysians.

“This is a challenge we are aware of, and we must rely on data to determine the necessary steps,” Fadillah said.

He outlined the goals as ensuring energy security, protecting the people, sustaining economic growth and supporting industries.

Fadillah made these comments during an exclusive interview on Bernama Radio.
