SANDAKAN: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will launch a new Malaysian Higher Education Plan this year, outlining strategies for the next 10 years with a key focus on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the plan aims to align higher education with current technological advancements, especially AI. He also advised students to choose fields of study that offer strong career prospects, such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

He made these remarks after officiating the Jom Masuk U 2025 Carnival for Sabah Zone 1 at the Sandakan Sports Complex. Also present were senior officials from MOHE, public universities, and polytechnics, Saturday.

The JMU 2025 Carnival, running from April 19 to May 18 across nine zones nationwide, serves to provide comprehensive information on higher education pathways for SPM, STPM, and equivalent school leavers.

Mustapha emphasized that no student should miss out on higher education due to financial constraints. Support such as PTPTN’s advance tuition fee assistance, zakat, and scholarships are available for B40 applicants during the UPU Online application process.
