THE Government of Malaysia, through the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, through the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, held an Exchange of Letters (EoL) session to strengthen cooperation in the field of energy transition.
In a statement released by PETRA today, the ministry said this cooperation reflects the shared commitment of both countries to advance sustainable energy development, enhance energy supply security and safety, and stimulate economic growth through green investment.
The letters were exchange during the official visit of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, to Malaysia on February 10-11, 2025.
Datuk Fadillah Yusof is the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
“The areas of cooperation outlined in this Letter of Intent include electricity market operation, strengthening grid systems, developing smart grids, increasing renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, exploring the potential of nuclear energy for electricity generation, and investment and financing mechanisms in the energy sector,” the ministry said.
This collaboration will be carried out through various platforms, such as seminars, forums, technical discussions, working visits, exchange of expertise and technical knowledge, as well as joint project implementations in the electricity sector, it added.
This strategic cooperation aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving a low-carbon and sustainable future as outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
Malaysia aims to accelerate its energy transition agenda by leveraging Turkey's expertise in the field. PETRA remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and welcomes further collaboration with the Republic of Turkey in this vital sector. – February 12, 2025
