Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim calls for an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomacy as Middle East tensions escalate following an Israeli attack on Iran.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire following Israel’s attack on Iran, warning the region is being dragged to the brink of disaster.

In a statement, Anwar urged Israel, the United States and Iran to cease all provocative actions and return to the diplomatic table.

He stressed that any further provocative action would only trigger a larger crisis, undermine regional stability and risk dragging more countries into an uncontrollable conflict.

Anwar described the escalating Middle East tension resulting from the US and Israel’s attack on Iran as a great tragedy for Muslims.

He lamented that decades of colonisation, seizure of land and suffering continue to happen before the world’s eyes.

The Prime Minister concluded by calling for strength and prayers for those defending the principles of truth and justice.
