In a remarkable display of gratitude, John Wong, the founder of Warakuya Japanese Restaurant and Superstar Family KTV, took employee appreciation to a whole new level this year. Instead of the typical annual dinner most companies might host, Wong gifted a total of 31 employees with brand-new cars, totaling an impressive RM3.1 million.
Wong, speaking to China Press, explained that rewarding his employees annually is a tradition he holds dear as a way to show his appreciation for their dedication and hard work. This year, he decided to take it up a notch, surprising his team with a lineup of cars from prestigious brands such as BMW, Audi, Toyota, Honda, and Proton at a special ceremony.
Among the recipients, four senior employees, including a C-level executive and three branch managers, received BMW 6 Series cars a premium gesture totaling RM1.8 million. Wong shared that these four individuals had been instrumental in the company's growth, standing by his side for years to help build the business from the ground up.
The gesture extended beyond Malaysian staff, as employees from Myanmar and Nepal were also recognized, each receiving driving licenses at no additional cost along with their cars.
For some, the event was a journey of personal milestones. One employee, who traveled from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru for the ceremony, shared that this was his second BMW gift from the company, having received his first seven years prior. He expressed that this extraordinary reward was a heartfelt affirmation of his work and dedication.
Wong's extraordinary generosity has not only set a new standard for employee appreciation but also demonstrated a powerful message: loyalty and hard work are deeply valued, and rewarded in ways that go beyond traditional gestures.
