MALAYSIAN semiconductor maker Inari Amertron is looking to expand in Clark with a third Philippine facility, the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) said in a statement Friday.
The expansion was discussed at a July 16 dialogue among CDC officials, the Embassy of Malaysia, the Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments (DTI-BOI), and Inari Amertron executives led by CEO Lau Kean Cheong and CFO Chong Poh Leng.
“Discussions centered on investment expansion, talent development, supply chain resilience, workforce readiness, and opportunities arising from the Luzon Economic Corridor,” CDC said.
The planned new site, CK3, is aimed at scaling production for artificial intelligence, data centers, and advanced electronics. CDC said the facility is expected to boost Inari Amertron’s production capacity by 30 percent, create 600 additional jobs, and generate higher annual revenue as global demand rises for AI, data centers, electric vehicles, and advanced electronics technologies.
Inari Amertron has operated in the Philippines since 1988, employs 1,800 workers, and has shipped more than 150 billion integrated circuits worldwide, according to CDC.
It currently runs two local facilities in Clark with a combined floor space of over 13,000 square meters, plus a 6,000 sqm plant in China which opened in 2001.
The company recently completed its CK2.1 facility to support demand for photonics, power modules, AI applications, and data-center infrastructure.
CDC president and CEO Agnes Devanadera emphasized the agency’s focus on investor retention and expansion at the dialogue. “Investors stay where government processes are efficient, policies are predictable, and growth opportunities are clear,” she said.
Malaysian Ambassador Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino echoed this, citing Clark’s efficiency and Asean’s growing semiconductor role, while Inari Amertron’s CEO added: “We have been here for 38 years. Together we grow in Clark.“
CDC, established in 1993 as a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), manages the Clark Freeport Zone and Clark Special Economic Zone. Earlier this month, the agency was recognized for strong financial performance after remitting some P2.6 billion in dividends to the national government.
