
KUALA LUMPUR: In the enchanting city of Isfahan, Iran, our UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, etched his name in history as Malaysia’s first researcher and academic to be honored with the prestigious Mustafa Prize laureate.
The distinguished award was bestowed upon him by Dr. Rouhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, the Vice-President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy.
This remarkable event saw the gathering of 800 attendees, including 150 leading scholars and scientists from the Islamic world, who came to celebrate Professor Ahmad Fauzi’s achievements in membrane technology research and its versatile applications.
In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Professor Ahmad Fauzi extended his gratitude to his family, UTM, and the various Malaysian ministries that have steadfastly supported his research endeavors throughout the years.
He expressed, “My gratitude goes to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, my alma mater, in which I am now entrusted to lead as the Vice-Chancellor. My dedicated team at the Advanced Membrane Technology Research Center (AMTEC) and Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, UTM.
“I am also indebted to Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Ministry of Education for the opportunities and support throughout my academic and research journey.”
