PUTATAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged Malaysian entrepreneurs, particularly Bumiputera and women-led businesses, to tap into the booming global halal market projected to reach US$5 trillion by 2030.
He said the halal industry has evolved beyond religious boundaries and is now recognised internationally as a mark of quality, hygiene and safety.
Zahid noted that halal products are increasingly sought after even in non-Muslim countries due to their strict standards and assurance of cleanliness.
He said this while officiating the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Women Empowerment Programme and a seminar on Malaysian Nationhood here on Saturday.
He added that Malaysia’s halal ecosystem remains one of the most comprehensive in the world and should continue to be a driver for inclusive economic growth.
