The Malaysian Taekwon-Do Federation launches a digital ecosystem to track athlete progression from white belt to national team, enhancing integrity and transparency.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) has launched a comprehensive digital ecosystem to transform the sport’s governance and competition landscape.
ITF vice-president Datuk Shakir Husein Kalid said the system marks a significant milestone for the federation.
“This digital ecosystem tracks an athlete’s progression from white belt level all the way to national team selection,” he told a press conference.
The fully integrated system records every aspect of an athlete’s development in real time.
It tracks belt levels, performance, coaches and competition participation to streamline selection for international events.
Shakir said the previous manual system raised concerns over integrity and transparency.
It also made tracking athlete data efficiently very difficult.
The new system features electronic scoring, live result broadcasting and automatic ranking calculations.
These features are also used at world-level competitions to ensure consistency.
Shakir stated the digital system enhances integrity, transparency, traceability and data referencing.
It also helps avoid issues such as fake certificates or inaccurate information.
Development of the system was supported by a government matching grant of RM65,000.
This grant helped cover part of the software development costs for the federation.
