MYC hopes new Youth and Sports Minister will tackle cost of living, graduate jobs, and mental health issues facing Malaysian youth.

THE Malaysian Youth Council has welcomed the appointments of Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari and Mordi Bimol as the new Youth and Sports Minister and deputy minister.

MYC president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid said the council hopes the new ministry leadership will keep the youth development agenda relevant and data-driven.

“The appointments come at a time when the nation’s youth are facing major challenges, including the rising cost of living, graduate employability, changes in the world of work and mental well-being issues,” he said.

He stressed the need to strengthen youth organisations as government partners, focusing on economic agendas and inclusive development.

Mohd Izzat also expressed appreciation to former minister Hannah Yeoh and former deputy Adam Adli for their contributions.

He reaffirmed MYC’s commitment to be a constructive partner to safeguard youth interests.

The appointments were announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as part of a cabinet reshuffle to fill vacant positions.
