Malaysians holding Singapore driving licences welcome smooth BUDI95 application process

MALAYSIAN citizens holding Singapore driving licences have expressed relief following the launch of the online application for the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy, which is now open to eligible individuals working across the Causeway.

Among the early applicants was Mohd Nasir Mokhtar, 44, a bus driver employed by a transportation company in Singapore, who said there had been no issues accessing the application link via the Road Transport Department (JPJ) website.

“The process was smooth. I just managed to get onto the JPJ portal this morning to apply. My friends also helped,” he told Bernama. Nasir, who has worked as a bus driver for over two years, added that the system put in place by the government had made it straightforward for applicants to proceed with their submissions.

He advised other applicants to double-check their details carefully before submitting the application online to avoid errors.

Another applicant, Mohd Hizwan Jaafar, 35, who has worked in the same profession for six years, said the application system was user-friendly and easy to navigate.

“I hope my application is approved quickly so we can receive the subsidy without delay,” he said.

Mohamad Yusof, 38, also a bus driver in Singapore, praised the government's initiative to ensure no one was left out.

“This is a timely and efficient move by the government. It ensures eligible citizens benefit from the subsidy without any being overlooked,” he said.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke had earlier announced that the Ministry of Transport (MOT), through JPJ, had launched a dedicated website to facilitate BUDI95 applications specifically for Malaysians using Singapore driving licences.

He said the measure was aimed at supporting citizens who are employed in Singapore but are required to use Singapore-issued licences for work purposes, especially in service-based roles such as bus driving, support services, and operational roles.
