Minister Zulkifli Hasan calls for solidarity and prayers for the safety and success of the international Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 mission to Gaza.

PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan has called on Malaysians to show solidarity and pray for the success of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission to Gaza.

He said the mission, which set sail from Barcelona on April 12, is a significant universal effort involving participants from around the world, including Malaysia.

“I would like to invite Malaysians to focus on showing solidarity, and we pray for their safe journey and return, and that the mission succeeds,” Zulkifli told reporters after an event here.

The GSF 2.0 mission brings together an international coalition aiming to break the blockade on Gaza in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis there.

It involves more than 80 vessels with the participation of about 1,000 individuals, supported by maritime efforts, ground movements, legal advocacy and global solidarity campaigns.

Zulkifli was speaking after attending Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia’s (YAPEIM) national-level Aidilfitri contribution presentation ceremony.

The event saw YAPEIM channel contributions amounting to RM3.1 million, benefiting 29,100 recipients comprising students and those in need.

YAPEIM also launched the Keep Malaysia Clean-YAPEIM (KMC-YAPEIM) campaign at the same event, an initiative under the broader ‘Keep Malaysia Clean’ programme.

The foundation has been selected as a pioneer to implement the KMC initiative, representing religious agencies to promote awareness on cleanliness, integrity and harmony.
