Malaysians are urged to remain united and rational as the government adjusts fuel subsidies in response to the West Asia conflict and global energy crisis.
KUALA LUMPUR: The public has been urged to remain united and rational in facing the global energy crisis triggered by the West Asia conflict.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the public should receive the prime minister’s latest measures with understanding.
He observed that many people are rational and understand the current situation, while others continue to offer prayers and support.
“Friends abroad have also expressed admiration for Malaysia’s approach in managing this crisis,” he said in a Facebook post.
Zulkifli added that Malaysia still enjoys various advantages compared to other countries, including energy subsidies.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a temporary adjustment to the Budi MADANI RON95 Programme (BUDI95) quota.
The monthly quota will be reduced from 300 litres to 200 litres per month effective April 1.
He stressed that the subsidised RON95 price remains at RM1.99 per litre.
Anwar expressed hope that the public would understand the temporary adjustment.
He noted that the measure would remain in place until global oil markets, supply and the economy stabilise.
