Former Chelsea attacker Florent Malouda admits it was tough seeing Roman Abramovich forced to sell the club.

The UK government forced Abramovich to give up Chelsea last year after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Malouda told Sport-Express: I wasn't surprised. This happened.

"All I can say is that it was hard to watch. He has done a lot for the club. This is something strange - you built something, and it is taken from you literally overnight.

"It is important how the club will develop now. It seems to me that every Chelsea fan is grateful to Roman for what he has done for the club."
