Zohran Mamdani has weighed in on whether he believes the constitution should be changed to allow him to run for president.
In October, the New York mayor will turn 35, ticking off one of the eligibility requirements to become a candidate.
However, as Mr Mamdani was not born in the US, he is ineligible to run for the position.
Under Article II, Section 1 of the constitution, only natural-born citizens 35 years and older can seek the presidency.
Asked by ABC News if he would like to see the constitution changed so he could run, Mamdani, who was born in Uganda, replied: “No. I think the constitution looks good the way it is.”
