“Although organised competitions have long been part of video game culture, these were largely among amateurs until the late 2000s, when participation by professional players and spectatorship in these events via live streaming saw a huge surge in popularity.
“In 2010, events are an important factor in the video game development industry, with many active game developers and providing funds for competitions and other events,” he said.
He added that actually the classification of video games as sports is controversial, but some games are very popular among professional competitors.
“While video games are typically designed with the player’s in-game experience as the sole primary feature, many successful e-sports games are designed to be played professionally from the start.
“Most e-sports competitions feature physical events that take place in front of a live audience. The training that the players have to go through to prepare for the competition varies but still takes a long time.
“Professional players or pro players or pro players are often associated with gaming groups and general gaming organisations,” he said.
According to Hillary, professional players are generally required to behave ethically by complying with the rules set out in competitions, organisations and groups, as well as following the general expectation of good sportsmanship.
According to him, sports activities are not only good for the health of a person’s body but also make the mind always fit to think in addition to being able to avoid unhealthy activities that cause illness.
“In daily life, we have to choose one type of sport to ensure that we are always healthy. Even if you only walk about one kilometre every day, it is also one of the exercise activities that allows you to stay healthy,” he said.
At the same time, Hillary also commended his committee members and participants who had previously been representatives as sports athletes in various forms of sports games and had successfully won several competitions in sports games organised by the club and other organisations.
He said, such achievements need to be maintained in the future and those involved need to maintain their stamina so that they are still able to represent Ranau district in any sports organisation in the future.
