
LABUAN: A house fire at Taman Lazenda Villa 2 here claimed the lives of a 65-year-old man and his three grandchildren at 12.50am, Thursday. The children were aged between eight and 12.
Labuan Police Chief Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim said the fire engulfed the two-storey residential home.
Advertisement“Police investigations revealed nine people were inside the house at the time of the fire. “Four, including a baby, aged between one and 61 years, were rescued with the help of the public while five others remained trapped.
“The Fire Department later discovered four children unconscious on the top floor of the house, believed to have suffered from severe smoke inhalation,” he said.

“The Fire Department discovered the charred body of an adult man in the kitchen. “As of now, a 13-year-old boy remains hospitalised. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said.
