PETALING JAYA: A senior citizen has been arrested for hitting his 91-year-old mother and causing injuries to her face at a longhouse in Selangau, Sarawak.

Mukah police chief Rizal Alias said the 60-year-old suspect was arrested at about 3pm yesterday after a report was lodged on Friday night.

The victim is being treated at Hospital Sibu, he said, according to Berita Harian.

Rizal said the investigation is being carried out under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
