Man, 73, died due to physiological impact of Singapore Airlines turbulence

• A coroner has concluded that 73-year-old Geoff Kitchen died from cardiac failure caused by the physiological effect of severe turbulence aboard a Singapore Airlines flight.
• The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft plunged 178ft in under five seconds over Myanmar after encountering a rapidly growing cloud.
• Pathologist evidence noted that while Mr Kitchen had underlying heart disease, the traumatic turbulence precipitated the fatal cardiac arrest.
• The incident also left 72 passengers injured, including Mr Kitchen's wife, Linda, who suffered spinal fractures.
• Mrs Kitchen and several other British passengers involved in the incident have launched legal action against Singapore Airlines for personal injury damages.
