TAWAU: An elderly man was reported to have drowned in Sungai Balung on Wednesday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin identified the victim as Awing Masakiran, 84.

He said they were called by Ministry of Health personnel to help retrieve the victim, he said, adding a rescue team was deployed to the scene some 35km away after receiving a call at 6.23pm.
