PETALING JAYA: Ampang police have arrested a 27-year-old man whose assault on an elderly person was caught on camera.

The video, which has been circulating on social media, shows the man, who was driving a Mercedes Benz, punching and kicking the driver of another SUV.

According to a Harian Metro report, the victim is a 67-year-old doctor.

The road rage incident happened yesterday morning in front of a petrol station in Ampang following a minor accident, which saw the suspect’s vehicle knock into the victim’s car.

The victim then drove to the petrol station and the suspect followed suit.

Ampang Jaya police chief Farouk Eshak said the suspect alighted from his car, opened the victim’s car door and began assaulting the elderly driver.

The doctor was punched in the cheek and kicked in the hips. The suspect also pulled his hair.

“It is understood the suspect assaulted the victim because he was unhappy the victim refused to stop his vehicle at the site of the accident,” he said.

The suspect was arrested at 9.45pm after he went to the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters to give a statement.

The suspect, who has no prior record and tested negative for drug use, will be remanded to assist in an investigation under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
