A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with a viral incident in which he was seen clinging to the bonnet of a moving car in Bandar Seri Alam, Johor.
The man, who tested positive for ketamine, was detained at 2 am on Sunday, March 1, according to the police.
Seri Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed the arrest and provided details about the incident, which occurred around 3:30 pm on February 28.
"The incident, which went viral on social media, is believed to have stemmed from an argument between the man and his ex-wife," he said.
The confrontation reportedly started at a supermarket in Bandar Seri Alam, before the man climbed onto the bonnet and clung to the front of the woman's car as she drove away. After a short distance, he fell off the vehicle.
The woman, who was driving slowly, continued for about two kilometers before a group of individuals, believed to be associates of the man, stopped her.
They proceeded to break the car’s windows, extort her, and steal her belongings.
Mohd Sohaimi noted that the suspect, who has no prior criminal record, has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist with the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Sections 384 and 427 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - March 1, 2026
