
KOTA KINABALU: A man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in a jealous frenzy at a vegetable stall on Jalan Pahlawan in Kepayan, here, on Saturday.
The 38-year-old victim, who worked at a coffee shop, was brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
She succumbed to her injuries following the 1.30pm incident.
Acting City Police Chief Supt Kalsom Idris said preliminary findings revealed that the woman was assisting her sister at the vegetable stall when the man approached her.
The man stabbed her multiple times before she managed to escape.
The severely injured woman was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance but succumbed to her injuries at 2.21pm.
The man was arrested later that day, around 8.30pm.
Early investigations indicated that the man’s acts were motivated by jealousy.
Police also recovered a knife believed to have been used in the incident.
The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
