Man arrested by Georgia police sergeant days ago named suspect in his shooting

  • Warm Springs Police Sergeant Chris Fisher, 36, was shot and killed in his patrol car on Tuesday night in Georgia.
  • The suspect, 23-year-old Jimmie Lee Steverson, had been arrested by Fisher just days earlier on marijuana and firearms charges.
  • Following a widespread manhunt, Steverson was found in South Carolina with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and later died at a hospital.
  • Fisher, a husband and father of two who joined the department in May, was remembered by the small Warm Springs community for his kindness and dedication.
  • The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is continuing to investigate the shooting, and authorities have not yet released a motive.
