Man arrested for assaulting driving instructor in road rage incident

POLICE have arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of assaulting a driving school instructor during a road rage incident in Taman Mutiara, Parit Sulong.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the suspect was detained in Parit Raja following a police report lodged by the 56-year-old victim at 7.24pm on Tuesday.

“Initial investigations indicate the incident occurred around 1.20pm and is believed to have stemmed from dissatisfaction with one another’s driving behaviour,” he said.

According to police, the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, intercepted the victim’s car and punched the windscreen, causing it to crack.

“The victim continued driving to the Parit Sulong police station while being followed by the suspect. Upon arrival, as the victim exited his vehicle, the suspect struck him in the head before fleeing the scene,” Shahrulanuar said.

The victim sustained injuries to his forehead. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt.

A 1-minute and 47-second video of the incident has since gone viral on Facebook, showing a motorcyclist tailing a car and kicking its side mirror. The footage also depicts the injured victim with blood on his head, allegedly after being punched by the suspect. - August 13. 2025
