SOOK: A 52-year-old man has been detained for allegedly possessing parts of protected animals, here.

The man was arrested after his house in Kampung Tuawon Terusmadi, here, was raided, Saturday.

Sabah Wildlife Director Augustine Tuuga said the suspect was detained to assist investigation under Section 41 of the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997.

Those convicted of possession of animals or animal parts without a permit can be fined between RM50,000 and RM250,000 and imprisoned for between one and five years.
