POLICE have arrested a man accused of obstructing a public servant from performing his duties at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) bus terminal in Johor Bahru on Wednesday.
Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said police detected a viral video on social media showing the incident, which took place at about 11.13am on Tuesday.
“Investigations revealed that the incident occurred after police received a report from a 31-year-old local man working as a security assistant.
The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between a Malaysian Volunteers Department (Rela) officer on duty and the suspect.
“The complainant, who tried to break up the scuffle, was pushed on the left shoulder by the suspect but did not sustain any injuries,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Raub said the police arrested the 31-year-old suspect on Wednesday following intelligence gathered from the report.
“Checks found that the suspect has one prior criminal record, although his urine test returned negative for drugs.
“A remand application will be made on Thursday under Section 186 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the suspect faces up to two years in prison, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both,” he said. - November 6, 2025
