The police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after luring her with the promise of marriage. A case has been registered against him under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The accused was produced in the court today. The Judge remanded him in judicial custody. A Panchkula woman had lodged a complaint with the police. She alleged that her 14-year-old daughter worked as a babysitter at a house. When her daughter did not return home on June 5, she began searching for her. When the girl arrived home late at night, she narrated her ordeal.
The victim stated that she had met a youth from Panchkula on social media. He lured her into a love affair, promised to marry her and developed a physical relationship with her.
The police have registered a case under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. During the investigation, the victim’s statement was recorded before a magistrate and she was got medically examined at the Civil Hospital.
The police arrested the accused on June 7.
