KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 – A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making threats using a knife against a trader on Jalan Tasik Selatan 21, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Cheras, this afternoon.

Cheras District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Daud said the arrest followed an incident where a man was believed to have been slapped and threatened with a knife during a disagreement over roadside business activities in front of Residensi Sateri at 3:00 pm today.

He said that the local man was detained at a nearby banana fritter stall to assist with the investigation, and police also seized the knife used in the incident.

“Preliminary checks revealed that the suspect has no prior criminal record, and the case is being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the investigation paper is currently being finalised, which includes recording statements from the victim and witnesses, as well as securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage around the scene of the incident.

Earlier, a video depicting the incident went viral on social media. — Bernama
