Germany's federal prosecutor has had another suspect arrested in connection with investigations into alleged Hamas arms procurement - this time a man arrested by Danish police near Copenhagen, German prosecutors said on Thursday.
Danish police arrested the Danish man on Wednesday, Germany's top prosecuting authority said. He is suspected of procuring weapons for planned Hamas attacks and is to be extradited to Germany soon.
Prosecutors accuse the Danie of membership in a foreign terrorist organization, planning a serious act of violence that threatens national security, and violations of the Weapons Act.
He is alleged to have handed over five handguns and ammunition last July to another defendant, who then passed the firearms on to a third defendant for transport to Vienna.
The case is related to an investigation into a number of suspected Hamas members and supporters launched by Germany's top prosecution authority.
Several people accused of transporting and storing weapons on behalf of the Palestinian extremist group Hamas have been arrested in recent months upon request by German prosecutors.
Investigators believe the suspects were involved in the planning of Hamas attacks on Israeli or Jewish targets in Germany and Europe.
